Society
This section of the website is devoted to topics of societal relevance. One thing which has always characterized my personal life is my societal engagement. As a child I have always rejected injustices and unfairness in society. I could not stand if somebody treated others as lesser-peoples. I have always believed that all men deserve to be treated equally, that all men deserve to have equal opportunities, and that all men each have an inherent strength to become all they can become. This belief have always guided me in my relationships with people.
My childhood was also characterized with a serious search for God. My young mind directed my search for God in the various religions. While I was born and raised as a Catholic, I opened myself to the teachings of other religions in my search for God. I attended the services and study sessions of Protestant churches, the Church of Christ, the Church of the Living Christ, and various Christian groups, to name a few. I also read the Bible and even the Koran.
Finally, I came to the conclusion that God is not limited to any religion. Religion is a man-made institution. God could not be captured in just one of these religions, as most if not all religions claim to be the only true religion. God is actually Love, and dwells in each and every heart of us, regardless of religion, stature, culture or race. God’s words are simple. Love one another as I have loved you. And I realized that all the while God has long answered my quest for Him, as I have always been following (or at least tried to follow) His teaching of loving one another. As respect for life and the belief that all men have an inherent strength to become all they can become is only truly possible with love.
And this is why societal engagement has always been and will continue to be a part of my being. For God is not only in my heart, but in the hearts of each and every one of us. And therefore societal engagement is, I think, inevitable, should you want to experience the presence of God in your life.
This section will be covering topics like: migration issues such as acculturation, integration, and (political) participation, women empowerment and emancipation, child development and parental responsibilities, etc.
